There has been a 50% increase in the percentage of students awarded a first or upper second degree at some universities over the last ten years. Coventry University, Chester University and Gloucestershire University have shown some of the sharpest rises, while at Heriot-Watt University there was a rise of nearly 50%. At Imperial College London more than a third of graduates gained a first class degree and 67% gained a top degree as compared with 47% ten years ago.
